Calm before the storm....

Isaac may be on his way but we still have a little girl to entertain, so yesterday we decided to check out a "Just for Fun Dog Show" It was being held at a local park and thought it would be fun for Savannah to see all the doggies.  There were some cuties for sure, there was a "Verdell", the same kind of dog from the movie As Good As it Gets.  So. Cute.  And some King Cavaliers, I couldn't help but think of "Elizabeth Taylor" from Sex and the City- all fans will know what Im talking about.  Although the dogs were cute, the dog show itself wasn't all that exciting.  As I was looking around I noticed a playground near by.  It was nice and different from the other playgrounds we've been to so Savannah had fun running around.  Even though it was overcast, it was still hot so we decided to go to Lakes Park.  We were there for about 5 minutes when the maintenance man came by and shut off the water to the kids water park.  Not sure if there was an issue or what but I thought it was strange to "recycle the water" (as he put it) at Noon on a Saturday.  Oh well, we headed home and kept a close eye on Mr. Isaac.

Uh, No.

Oh the places you'll go...

"Kid, you'll move mountains!"

Rocky Horse

Savannah got another new toy a couple of weeks ago.  However, it's not new it's much better then that! It was made by her Papa about 15 years ago.  He made two of them for his grandkids and when they grew out of them they were then passed down to his nephews. Now it was Savannah's turn.  I love love love that she now has the adorable horsey and we can pass it down to her children (eeek!)

Thank you Papa! And thank you Uncle Ron for dropping it off for us :)

Weekend Visit with Gram

My mom came down on Friday and stayed through the weekend.  Friday we went to an outlet mall and did a little shopping, of course Savannah made out the best.  There's a croc's outlet there so "little miss obsessed with her crocs" got two new pairs.  There were so so so many to choose from so my mom and I had fun picking through all the adorable shoes. There's also a Carters outlet and a Gap so she got a lot of cute new clothes. That night Shane and I got a quick bite to eat while mom stayed home with Savannah, they played and played and had a good ole' time.  Saturday started with breakfast at Mels Diner and yet again we had people coming up to us telling us what a well behaved baby we have, they were so impressed that she sat there and ate and never fussed. (what proud parents we were) You know, she has just always been that way when we eat out.  No tricks, I just always try to bring all her favorite foods and snacks.  We don't order off the kids menu so I bring her favorite fruits and crackers and she'll have some of whatever it is we're eating.  We also try to keep it short, there is no high expectation of her sitting for hours on end so we usually stay for about an hour, give or take.   We don't want to be the parents with the annoying kid in the restaurant that everyone is staring at thinking "God, I hope they're almost finished".  After breakfast it was off to Target for more shopping and groceries.  Thennnn, later we all went to Osaka's Japanese Steakhouse for dinner.  Shane and my mom LOVE that kind of food, so it was a nice treat.  It was Savannah's first time at a hibachi grill so we were curious to see her reactions.  I thought if anything she would love it, or it was at least a great distraction for her.  So we all sat down and there were already two groups sitting on each side of us.  After Savannah got settled in her high chair, the first thing she did was wave and say HI to all the new faces sitting with us.  It was so cute! This little tiny thing in her little  pink dress and pigtails being so cordial and polite was the sweetest thing ever and our new friends thought so too.  So as the cooking began she was just watching and watching, then the fire and flames started and she didn't care for that at all! It scared her, poor thing, so we had to hold her for a little bit while the cooking continued.  Once that was done, we ate, she ate, she watched barney on my phone and that was about it.  Sunday we just hung out at home.  So there it is, another great weekend with my mom aka Gram.

16 Months Old Today!

Pots & Pans

This morning I was trying to clean with my "ever so loved, but if I trip over you one more time I'm going to scream" daughter.  I decided to give her a couple of pots, spatulas and a wooden spoon to play with.  To my surprise the cooking supplies held her attention for 30 minutes straight! Yes, that's an entire half hour folks.  Anyone with kids knows that there's not too many things out there that can do that, so I was one happy mama! Oh the joy I get out of being able to clean my bathroom without a toddler in the way  ;)

 First, she cooks in them...
 Then, steps in them...
 And, steps out of them...
Lastly, she has to sit in them.

Playtime!

Savannah got her 1st playhouse on Saturday.  I've been looking to buy one for a couple of weeks now and finally found one on Friday.  Craigslist is such a great source for buying things like this; the playhouse looks practically brand new and we got it for a much lower price.  I've bought a lot of her toys at children's consignment shops, and craigslist- as long as they are in good condition of course.  A lot of things can be pretty beat up but every so often you find something nice.  Plus you can sell some things to the consignment shop that she doesn't need or use anymore and just put that money towards new(ish) stuff. Which is exactly what I did. So here's her new playhouse, it fits perfectly on our lanai and she loves climbing all over it.

Savannahs 1st Year

I made this video for Savannah's 1st birthday party.  It took me a long time (forever, actually) to put all the videos together and edit everything to get it just the way I wanted.  It's almost 15 minutes long so beware.... I think it's worth watching though if you have time, you really get to watch her grow and go through a lot of her milestones.  I meant to share this around her 1st birthday in April but completely forgot..oops.  Enjoy!

Summer isn't over for us!

We stayed home on Monday but yesterday morning I took her to the park, we lasted about 45 minutes. It was so hot, we were both sweating.  But she had fun and we ran into an "old" friend. (no pictures) This morning I took her back to the beach, not to actually do the beach thing just to play on the playground.  It's covered and there is usually a nice breeze at the beach.  Unfortunately, it didn't help much, there is really no getting away from Florida August heat.  So when Savannah walked down to the water I decided just to let her play, oh well, she was having a good ole' time splashing around.  Of course, when I eventually changed her into her swim diaper and put sunscreen on her, she wanted nothing to do with the water. Ugh...kids, gotta love em'

Wet and all sandy, on our way home for nap time!

For the Love of her Crocs

It's been about a week and a half now that Savannah has been obsessed with wearing her Crocs. She insists on wearing them from the time she wakes up till the time she goes to bed. Literally when I grab her out of her crib in the morning she points over to where her shoes are kept and says "Gee, Gee", that what she calls her shoes.  We think she's trying to say shoe, but not sure.  It's pretty adorable so we can't tell her no and besides her wanting to climb on the furniture with them on, it  doesn't hurt any thing.  It's funny because she's not super attached to a stuffed animal or blanket (well, she does have a favorite blanket but doesn't have to have it all the time) She chose her crocs for her security "toy"

I love these cute little phases...

"Put em' on Mom, Put em' on"
 eating breakfast...notice the shoes
 watching Barney...ahem..shoes on....
I put her crocs up so I could put her down for a nap,
and she went and grabbed her sandals
I put her shoes on the baby doll and Savannah
was nice enough to let her wear them for about a half a second
YAY! She just put both shoes on, on the right feet, all by her self!!
Do we have a genius on our hands or what??

She's getting so BIG!

Our little peanut is getting so big, and might I add, more adorable by the day :)
