What a great (3 day) weekend!

Saturday we planned to take Savannah back to Cape beach with the Rice's.  We got an early start so it never got too hot.  Savannah had a lot of fun eating the sand,  at this age it's so hard to keep things out of her mouth, she'll eat anything!

I had to work Sunday but we already planned on having Tony's cousin come over to watch Savannah for a couple of hours so we could have dinner. We have finally decided that it's time for us to have some time for just each other.  Since we are on opposite schedules right now, it's been so difficult to squeeze in any alone time plus the fact that we don't really have a designated "babysitter" doesn't really help either.  So we asked Sabrina if she would like to.. and she was more than willing.  It worked out perfect! We had a great time just going out for dinner together.  We have put all of our time and focus into Savannah for her 1st year, which is exactly what we wanted to do but now I feel it's also important for us to have "our" time.  Where we can break away from baby talk and dirty diapers and just have fun.  Like we used to.

yep, thats the real us
out to dinner

It's all a juggling and balancing act, really.  Trying to be the best and most involved parents that we can be, both having to work and also putting enough time and focus into keeping a healthy marriage.

Who would have thought that being an adult would be this much work!!??

Thennnnn....

To my surprise, my wonderful hubby took Monday off! Just so we could spend the day together, and that's exactly what we did.  We went back to the Cape beach, this time to the pool.  Which by the way was way too warm! It was like bath water, so not refreshing at all! So we went over to the beach and hung out in the much cooler water.  After that we went to an Italian Deli and Market where we got steaks for dinner.  What a good day!

I decided not to worry about taking pictures throughout the day so I left the camera at home!

11 Months Old!

Savannah turned 11 months old on 03/16/12.  I can't believe our baby girl is almost a year old!

A morning at the beach with friends....

Friday morning Savannah and I met Tony, Laura and little Anthony at the Cape beach.  It was so nice and relaxing;  I could have spent the entire day there!

so angelic...
Anthony loved the water!
In deep thought....
Savannah loved the swings!

Precious Little Ears

Savannah got her ears pierced yesterday! I was thinking of doing it around Christmas but chickened out.  I kept going back and forth with it.  I've always thought that little girls look absolutely adorable with their ears pierced, however the thought of putting her through intentional pain was weighing heavily.  I kept thinking, wow those little ears would sure look purty with some earrings but then immediately I would go to this picture in mind of her screaming her head off and every person in the mall looking at me like Im. the. worst. mother. in. the. world. So I waited.  Then I started to think about talking to one of the girls at the  "ear piercing place" and just getting some info.  How painful is it? How have other babies her age handled it? and so on....  I know when I had mine done, it was just a pinch.  We can all handle a pinch of course. But this is my precious little girl and her precious little ears were talking about people.  She explained the worst part for her would be the noise of the "gun" (they really should consider coming up with a less terrifying name, just saying).  So we decided to just do it.  It took a total of oh about 30 seconds and she cried for probably an equal amount of time.  Me? I only cried a little longer more than that.  Just kidding.

So, she survived and so did Shane and I.  No one stared or picketed the Piercing Pagoda.  Who woulda thought?  And just as we knew she would, she looks absolutely adorable, and her precious little ears have become just a wee bit more precious.

Savannah's 1st Fair...

Shane and Savannah met up with Tony, Laura and Anthony at the Fair on Saturday.  I had to work and couldn't go.  <Insert sad face here>

You know, we made the decision when Savannah was born that I would quit my job in accounting and go back to working nights so we would not have to put her in daycare.  It has worked out pretty well for the most part.  The money is good and I actually like being back in the restaurant buis. And getting to spend my days with her is priceless. But there are times and things I have to miss out on which makes it hard. I don't miss much but some.  Plus, Shane and I being on opposite schedules isn't always easy. I guess there will always be some sacifices that just have to made if we both have to work.  And even though sometimes it is tough, I know that it was the best decision for us.  I don't regret it at all, life is just hard sometimes.

We are praying that the plans we have for our future work out the way that we need them to.  And if they do then all of this will be a distant memory.

Anyway, Shane said Savannah had a good time at the fair.  The petting zoo scared her though.  He said her and Anthony were sweet together (that I would have liked to see) they are only 7 months apart and we don't see them nearly enough.  Im glad Shane took her, they had a great time!

I think he said this is when she spotted the goats...
Anthony looks like he's going in for a smooch!
cuties..
This is my new favorite picture.  Love it.
